در متن یَوِشت فِریان (که یک متن باستانیِ ایرانی است)، آمده که هوپَرش (یک زن اصیل ایرانی) در حضور برادرش، چادر به سر می‌کرد. ضمن اینکه چادر، خود یک واژه اصیل و کهن ایرانی است.
